I rediscovered (or remembered, as I often feel) my spirituality a couple of years ago, and have been mining my own inner journey ever since. Not coincidentally, I believe, I have also been redefining my identity in the work-a-day world, having left the restaurant business after almost 20 years’ service, trying my hand at the corporate world (it took me much less time; 18 months to be exact, to figure out THAT wasn’t working for me), and now following my path to my present self-employed status. After 12 years of taking house-sitting and dog-walking jobs as supplemental side work , I am now pursuing it more completely, and even have my own company, “Super Genius Pet-Sitting”. Having spent almost my entire working life toiling at various jobs, my relentlessly Protestant work ethic at the helm, there had always been a growing sense of desperation and futility nipping at the edges of my psyche. It took a huge leap of faith to allow myself to jump off the money train and try to actually follow my bliss, whatever that turned out to be. At this time, it is a variety of things, not the least of which is spacekeeping. I have been fortunate enough to know Alora and Mellissa, founders of San Diego Circle and huge supporters of, well, Me, and my path. Through helping out with space-keeping duties at the Circle and taking many workshops offered there, as well as my own inner work, I have realized that the role that I’ve often played in my personal life; spacekeeper, helper, caretaker; is the one that most calls to me in my work. I like to think of myself as not just a house sitter or dog-walker, but Professional Spacekeeper. When I’m house-sitting I’m not just watering the plants and feeding the pets, I’m also keeping space energetically; keeping things grounded for the pets, the plants, the earth. When I’m walking dogs I’m not just giving them exercise and keeping them company; I’m doing my part to keep our animal friends grounded also; so that even when my clients are gone, there is a loving and connected energy securing their homes and their beloved animals. So that’s where my bliss has led me thus far; keeping space, here on Earth. If you are interested in
